In addition to the Church Sound Systems which K T Electronics continue to install, we have, for many years, installed telephone systems, usually into commercial offices and factories.
In recent years we have tailored a small system to the church / clergy home situation.
This small system will allow up to 3 (most use only 1) outside lines to be directed to up to 8 extensions.
Larger systems are available
Typical system description:
1 extension in the parish office.
1 (or more) extensions in the presbytery.
1 extension in the parish hall. (which probably would receive calls but, with the exception of 999 calls, could not dial out).
1 extension in the sacristy / vestry (in usual setup would not ring for incoming calls but available for emergency calls)
Importantly, 1 extension dedicated to automatically “giving out” Mass times.
Maybe 1 extension dedicated to a fax machine.
How does it work?
Callers would be greeted with: “Thank you for calling the parish office, if you wish to know the Mass times (or times of Services), please press 1, otherwise press 2 to speak to the Parish office or 3 to speak to the Parish Priest” This would be tailored to suit your specific parish needs
Please Note: Our experience suggests that callers will use 1 layer of decision making but dislike further layers. Our systems only use 1 layer (although they are capable of more)
Often, though not publicised, pressing (maybe) 5 would ring the priest’s private home phone allowing trusted friends and family evening access whilst directing other callers to an answering machine.
System advantages:
o
|
Cost saving – 1 line can be used for office, private, hall, fax and broadband.
|
o
|
Privacy – it is impossible for others to “listen in” to your conversations.
|
o
|
Free of charge conversations between extensions.
|
o
|
Ability to transfer call from one extension to another.
|
o
|
Service / Mass times recorded on dedicated unit which is easily alterable.
|
(Some clergy change their message weekly to give details of funerals etc.)
o
|
Automatic Fax detection and routing.
|
o
|
Ability to bar certain extensions from making outside calls.
|
Cost:
Whilst this varies from office to office, typical cost would be £600 plus vat to include the PBX system, 1 system phone, “Mass times” message player and installation to mostly existing wiring.
Additional facilities could include calling number display (CLI) to handsets and individual Voice Mail for each extension.
